A lot of really good guitar teachers teach out of their homes as they don't have to pay rent like they would at a music store. These guys may be harder to find, but they are most likely the moonlighting musicain type that knows the tricks of the trade very well, and may be able to give you some shortcuts to make great music in a shorter period of time.

If you have a sibling or relative that plays, or a friend of a friend that plays, you may be able to convince them that they should teach you how to play. Be warned though, not all good guitar players make good guitar teachers. Not all guitar players have the patience need to be a good guitar teacher. It does take patience to teach well. If you know someone that plays but doesn't necessarily want to teach, it may be better to ask them if they could just show you a couple things.
